New Orleans Itinerary and Packing List
As we prepare for Women’s Chorale departure to New Orleans, please review the itinerary and packing list below, as well as Traveling with West Orange Choirs (scroll down on Policies page). Each student, their parent, and our chaperones will be held responsible for knowing all of the information.
Thursday, April 11, 2019
Dress: Comfortable sleeping attire. Sweats are permitted. Pajamas and leggings are NOT permitted. Students will change into polos, jeans, and sneakers at final rest stop.
10:00 pm EST - Students and chaperones arrive at WOHS. Final preparations are made.
11:00 pm EST - Load bus.
11:30 pm EST - Departure - STOP FOR BREAKFAST AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE
Friday, April 12, 2019
Dress: Students change into polos, jeans, and sneakers at final rest stop.
9:30 am CST - Arrive at French Quarter and meet local city tour guides
10:00 am - Walking tour of French Quarter
12:00 pm - LUNCH AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE at French Market
2:30 pm - Load bus and depart for Mardi Gras World
3:00 pm - Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World Tour
4:00 pm - Mardi Gras Mask Making Workshop
5:30 pm - Load bus and depart for Mulate’s Original Cajun Restaurant
6:00 pm - Dinner - Menu to consist of your choice of gumbo with house salad, fried shrimp,
red beans & rice, grilled chicken pasta, jambalaya, or cheeseburger, served with homemade bread pudding dessert and soft drinks, iced tea, or coffee.
7:00 pm - Load bus and depart for CROWNE PLAZA NEW ORLEANS AIRPORT (2829 Williams Blvd. Kenner, LA 70062)
8:00 pm - Rehearsal
10:00 pm - LIGHTS OUT
Saturday, April 12, 2019
Dress: casual clothing for breakfast (no pajamas are permitted to be worn outside of rooms), uniforms for performance, casual clothes for tour, and professional attire for tour and awards ceremony.
6:30 am - Hotel wake-up call
8:00 am - Breakfast will be provided. Menu to consist of scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice, and water.
Quick warm-up and rehearsal after breakfast in concert attire. Bring casual clothes to change into after performance.
9:15 am - Load bus and depart for New Orleans Heritage Festival: LANDRY WALKER HIGH SCHOOL

10:00 am - Warm-up in Auditorium
10:30 am - Performance - West Orange High School Women’s Chorale
11:00 am - Change into casual clothing and load bus to depart for Jackson Square
11:30 am - LUNCH AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE at Jackson Square
1:00 pm - Meet your Group at Decatur at St. Peter Streets, Load Coach and Depart on a 3 HOUR STEP-ON CITY TOUR including Hurricane Katrina sites (using your own motor coach).
4:00 pm - Return to Hotel to freshen up for Festival Awards Masquerade Ball and Dinner. Change into professional attire.
6:00 pm - Load bus and depart for Mardi Gras World for Festival Awards
6:30 pm - Doors open
7:00 pm - Dinner buffet
8:00 pm - Awards ceremony
10:00 pm - Load bus and return to hotel. Pack all items in preparation for departure the next morning.
10:45 pm - LIGHTS OUT

Dress: Comfortable, casual attire
6:00 am - Hotel wake-up call
7:00 am - Breakfast will be provided. Menu to consist of scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice, and water.
PACK - LOAD - CHECK OUT
8:30 am CST - Depart for West Orange High School. Meal Stops en route at your own expense.
9:00 pm EST - Approximate arrival back at West Orange High School for parent pickup. Please sign up for remind to receive ETA updates.
Remaining Packing List Items
No flip flops except in hotel, but consider weather
Pajamas, toothbrush, hairbrush, toiletries, make-up, etc.
Any homework assignments/music and other deemed necessities
Liquids, gels, soaps in a Ziploc bag
Cell phone and cell charger
Snacks and water for the bus
Optional: money for shopping/souvenirs
Temperature in New Orleans during our stay of April 11th to the 14th is anticipated to be between lows in the 60s to highs in the upper 70s, with possible rain.
